On the subversive nature of the Iliad in the face of cosmogonic and aesthetic imperatives
Keywords:
Iliad, narrators, characters, subversionAbstract
This research aims to deconstruct paradigms consolidated by modern criticism regarding the Iliad, which directly affect the reception of the work in the 20th and 21st centuries, specifically concerning the level of subordination of the narrator and characters to supposed aesthetics and cosmogonic imperatives that conditioned the structural development of the Homeric narrative. We evaluate that this panorama was constructed to consolidate the distance and stiffness of the Greek epic, turning it into an artifact while exalting the production techniques presented by modern fiction, especially those incorporated into novel to illustrate aspects such as its proximity and contemporaneity.
