Physics in Epictetus
Keywords:
stoicism, system, physics, theologyAbstract
Although the question about the relationship between the different parts of philosophy acknowledged by the Stoics has been at the center of rich debates in the last few decades, little attention has been paid to the question of the role played by Physics in Epictetus’ reflections. I shall try to show the implausibility of the relative consensus among Epictetus’ commentators that Physics did indeed play a role in his pedagogical curriculum, be it within the discussions gathered by Arrian or in the formal lessons which those lessons were supposed to complement.Downloads
