Rhetoric and its conflicts: from classical antiquity to social media
Keywords:
rhetoric, philosophy of language, social mediaAbstract
In this article we will analyze a view of rhetoric as potentially provoking conflicts between men and disintegrating cities. This dubious shadow, and the risks it brought with it, was seen at times as a feature of human language itself, but It was always the rhetoric art that exhibited with more evidence these risks. Then we will seek, among contemporary authors, concepts that can, if not eliminate, limit or control in some way the action of rhetoric considering its agents, retors and speakers, as possible rational and innovative agents of ideology. Finally we will see that these concepts could have the same beneficial effects for rhetoric in the virtual world of social networks.
