The properly human soul in the Nicomachean ethics

In this paper we aim to understand what in the soul can be identified as properly human, according to the Nicomachean Ethics. For this purpose, we will first deal with the kinds of life found in I.5, then we will address the life of activity of soul in I.7, and then we will treat of I.13, with its discussion of the parts of the human soul, paying attention to what this chapter indicates about the rational and non-rational capacities of the soul in their possible relationship or separation. Finally, we will examine the different psychic abilities, observing the practical and theoretical uses of the rational soul, and the possible replacement of one of them in a soul considered human.
