Is the soul individual for Aristotle?
Keywords:
Individualidade, causas, geraçãoAbstract
The critical literature on Aristotle still discusses whether the Aristotelian form is universal or individual. Book Lambda of the Metaphysics affirms the doctrine that individual causes are individuals, but it is the De Generatione Animalium that establishes it: the paternal semen transmits to the menstrual matter a series of movements that determine the fetus’ soul and its bodily development. Therefore, the parent is the child’s motor cause and the soul produced can be individual.Downloads
