Abstract

In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle develops two different and conflicting conceptions about happinnes (eudaimonía). This paper will try to show that this contradiction is only apparent, that the aristotelian text allows for the support of a perfectly consistent and coherent conception about happiness, with the assist of a key idea, the idea of self-sufficiency (autarkéia).
