Know time, know in time: considerations on time, myth and reason in Plotinus
Keywords:
Time, Knowledge, Myth, ReasonAbstract
This paper aims to investigate what seems at first sight a paradox: how, in the temporality proper to discursive thought, is it possible for man to ascend to eternity in order to know time? We find an answer in Plotinus’ treatise On eternity and time. Plotinus generates a mythical narrative rationally about the genesis of time. The analysis of the time of narration, which turns out to be psychic time, is that which leads the soul to eternity.Downloads
