This article outlines Gorgias of Leontini's concept of rhetoric. Gorgias is best known as a sophist and nihilist, but what he had to say on the nature of discourse, its possibilities, and its teleological relation to kairós, should make us rethink his legacy, not only for rhetoric generally, but also for philosophy of language in particular.Downloads
