Abstract

Our purpose is to analyze invective and satire poetry and the specific emotions associated with these genres - anger in the case of invective and indignation in the case of satire - in the light of Aristotle's Poetics, comparing these texts with late texts by Horace and Juvenal about this subject, to demonstrate that the union of these emotions in apparently distinct poetic genres is not accidental.
