Pístis, dóxa and epistéme. An analysis of the relation between the Gorgias and Meno
Keywords:
belief, opinion, Gorgias, MenoAbstract
The aim of this paper is to examine the notion of persuasion as presented by Plato in the Gorgias, taking as point of departure the type of persuasion which produces true belief. For this purpose we aim to make explicit the criterion used by Plato to distinguish between true belief and knowledge as well as to point how that issue needs to be clarified by means of the distinction between dóxa, alethés and epsitéme as they are established by Plato in the Meno.Downloads
