Epimenides: wise man or philosopher?

This paper aims at outlining traces of the intellectual profile of the wise Cretan Epimenides of Knossos, through analysis of traditions from the fifth century BC to the fifth century AD. It examines in particular the so-called liar paradox, attributed to Epimenides.
