An unexpected consequence of the reconstruction of Parmenides’ Poem
Keywords:
eleaticism, doxa, opinion, cosmologyAbstract
The modern establishment of the text of Parmenides’ Poem, with its presentation of the fragments in a certain order, has induced interpreters to accept a division of its doctrine into “Truth” and “Opinion”. Casting doubt on the established order of the fragments and questioning the reading of the poem in two “parts”, the author seeks to free the passages about the heavenly bodies from any supposed connection with the Parmenidean doctrine of doxai.Downloads
