Abstract

In many of his dialogues, Plato provides us with some glimpses of the oscillation between past ways of saying things and their legacy, and the philosophical way of saying things. Our aim here, however, is to offer an analysis of the literary importance of such a legacy in Plato’s corpus, in particular in the case of the creation of the ideal city and the narrative about Atlantis in the dialogues Timaeus and Critias.
