Abstract

This article discusses the dialectical structure of Plato’s works and indicates some reasons that led Plato to opt for that form of expression, e.g., the dialogue as the proper form to capture the Socratic irony and the dramatization of the subject under discussion, which goes beyond its mere theoretical presentation, rather situating it in a real scene, where it is necessary to know the locale, the historical context and its characters. In the Platonic dialogues, all that is said must be taken as pronouncements in their own contexts, inseparable from those who pronounce them. In the development of the Platonic drama, the truth, which cannot be simply said, can be apprehended by means of the dialectical ascension.
