Abstract

This article analyzes the letter 75 from Seneca to Lucilius based on two of his other letters, numbers 59 and 114, considering the historical context in which they were written and the role of rhetoric, especially the question of elocution, in these three letters; the objective is to demonstrate one of the many aspects of the complex relation between philosophy and rhetoric at a specific place and time, Rome during the first century AD.
