The comic is a society phenomenon; as a result, it is completely connected to the period of time which produced it, what makes it difficult to be noticed in the ancient texts.Horace gave form to the Latin satire. This paper shows what could provoke laughter, dealing with criticisms of Roman society specific situations which are criticisms and jokes that go on without aging in the course of time.
